A staff member at the City’s long-term care home Huron Lodge has been cleared of COVID-19.
It was earlier this week that the city reported that the staff member had the virus. To mitigate any potential risk to residents and staff at the home, and to allow for adequate investigation by health care professionals, outdoor family visits were immediately suspended, while window visits and technology-enabled visits continued.
A second and third round of testing on the staff member produced negative results, and at no time did the individual show any COVID-19 symptoms.
As a result of receiving confirmation that further tests were negative, outdoor visits are once again being allowed at Huron Lodge. Due to thorough protocols put in place that continue throughout this pandemic, an investigation by health officials confirmed that Huron Lodge did not qualify for outbreak status.
