1 New Death, 31 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Saturday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 31 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Saturday, bringing the local total to 13,126.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 13,095 on Friday March 5th to 13,126 on Saturday March 6th and 222 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 13 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 1 case is community-acquired, and 17 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 8,020 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+900 since yesterday)
  • 11,613 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+6 since yesterday)
  • A total of 31,246 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+912 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 12,511 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 43 resolved cases today.

Deaths

There has been one additional death from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 393.

The Health Unit says a man in his 70s from the community passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 39 hospitalizations today: 29 people in acute care (7 less today), and 10 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
