49 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Wednesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 49 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday, bringing the local total to 12,865.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 12,816 on Tuesday February 23rd to 12,865 on Wednesday February 24th and 268 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 33 cases are outbreak-related, 2 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 5 cases are community-acquired, and 9 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 1,895 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+358 since yesterday)
  • 11,501 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+10 since yesterday)
  • A total of 24,897 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+378 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 12,221 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 44 resolved cases today.

Deaths

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 today and the local death toll stands at 376.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 42 hospitalizations today: 37 people in acute care (1 more today), and 5 people in the ICU (1 less today) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
