33 New Cases Of COVID-19, 1 New Death, 2 New Outbreaks In Windsor Essex As Of Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 33 new cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday, bringing the local total to 3,456. They say 3,042 people locally have recovered.

Cases increased from 3,423 on Wednesday November 25th to 3,456 on Thursday November 26th and 336 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 14 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 4 cases are healthcare workers (2 who work locally, 2 who work in Michigan), 1 case is travel related, 4 cases are community acquired, and 10 cases are still being investigated.

There has been one new death due to COVID-19 as of Thursday bringing the local death toll to 78. The Health Unit says the death was a male in his 60s from Windsor with underlying medical conditions who passed away in hospital. They say the male was not from a long-term care home and lived in the community.

As of Thursday, the Health Unit lists 12 people as hospitalized, and 4 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex. Ten hospitalizations are listed at Windsor Regional Hospital.

Long-term Care / Retirement Home Outbreaks

As of Thursday, four long-term care/retirement homes remain under outbreak:

  • Leamington Mennonite (Leamington) has 0 resident cases and 1 staff case
  • Riverside Place (Windsor) has 17 resident cases and 2 staff cases
  • Lifetimes on Riverside (Windsor) has 5 resident cases and 4 staff cases
  • Iller Lodge (Essex) has 18 resident cases and 3 staff cases

Workplace Outbreaks

As of Thursday, there are five workplaces under outbreak (2 new today):

  • 2 outbreaks at agri-farms in Leamington
  • 1 outbreak at a place of worship in Leamington
  • 1 outbreak at a manufacturing facility in Windsor (new as of Thursday)
  • 1 outbreak at a health care and social assistance workplace in Lakeshore (new as of Thursday)

School Outbreaks

As of Thursday, two schools remain under outbreak:

  • W.J. Langlois Catholic Elementary School
  • Frank W. Begley Public School

Community Outbreaks

As of Thursday, there are two community outbreaks:

  • Riverplace Residence
  • Victoria Manor
