Windsor’s unemployment rate jumped to 12.9% in April according to Statistic Canada, as hundreds of businesses were forced to close due to COVID-19.
To compare the rate was 10.5% in March when the pandemic first started to hit.
The rate sat at 8.3% in February.
Windsor’s jobless rate represents the entire Windsor-Essex census area.
Overall in Canada, the rate sits at 13%, up from 7.8% in March.
