The Windsor Essex County Health Unit confirmed 7 additional cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday morning, bringing the local total to 525. They said 116 people locally have recovered.
Cases increased from 518 on Wednesday April 22nd to 525 on Thursday April 23rd.
The Health Unit confirmed one additional death due to COVID-19 on Thursday afternoon bringing the local death toll to 32. They say a male in his seventies who had previously tested positive for COVID-19 has passed away.
“I regrettably share this news with the community and would like to express my deepest sympathies to his family for their loss,” says Dr. Wajid Ahmed, Medical Officer of Health.
The Health Unit says 4,718 tests have been conducted as of Thursday and 644 tests are still pending.
