The South Essex Community Council has decided to end the delivery of Foot Care Services.

Their clinics had undergone an inspection by the Windsor Essex County Health Unit on July 25th, 2019 and was issued a “stop service order” for its clinics at 215 Talbot Street East, Leamington and at the Sun Parlour Home for Senior Citizens.

At the time, the Health Unit had said they had identified breaches in infection prevention and control practices related to reprocessing, cleaning, and handling of equipment, and a lack of standard operating procedures.

Due to the increased infection mitigation practices now required by the Health Unit and the increased operating costs that go along with those requirements they say that they are no longer able to provide affordable foot care services to the community.

As a result, the Board of Directors made the incredibly difficult decision to pass a motion to cease foot care services effective immediately.

“SECC has been delivering foot care services to the public for 36 years. In its history, there has never been a complaint or concern regarding infection control practices or service delivery. Our Foot Care Nurses are well-trained and possess the appropriate certification to deliver foot care services. SECC is very proud of the foot care services it has provided for more than three decades and is fully confident that its services are safe and sanitary,” the council said in a news release.

Clients are advised to consult with their family doctor to find out about alternative foot care services in the community. A copy of client records will be made available upon request and can be picked up at clients’ convenience by contacting the Main Office at 519-326-8629.
