A popular east Windsor riverfront park will soon have new washrooms.
Alexander Park, located at Strabane and Riverside Drive features a large parking lot, gazebo and formal MS garden, pathways, benches, a fishing dock and a new accessible playground.
The existing washrooms that serve the park are located on the far west end of the site and and has failing infrastructure that needs to be replaced.
The new washrooms will be centrally located in the park closer to the playground and parking lot.
The building has also been designed to be built into the embankment to preserve views to the water along Riverside drive, and the roof will be integrated into the embankment and used as a viewing platform that overlooks the river and the playground.
Monday evening council approved the project being awarded to Bear Construction and Engineering Inc. at $440,446.00.
Construction should be completed by the end of the year.
