The Town of Essex welcomed has a new youth council member.
Cameron Soucie is currently a Grade 9 student at Essex District High School and will be a council member for the 2019-2020 school year.
As a Youth Council Member, he’s looking to represent and provide a voice for youth at Council meetings and encourage other young people and organizations within the Town to reach out to facilitate collaboration and opportunities to serve in the community.
“I wanted to become a Youth Council Member to make positive changes wherever possible throughout the community,” he said, adding that he would like to get a better idea of the work of elected leaders and their role in the community.
Youth Council Members attend, participate and/or report in regular meetings of Town Council for the purpose of providing a youth perspective to Council matters or discussions.
