Willistead Park was ripe this evening with the smells of bugspray and popcorn as a few hundred Windsorites descended on the historic grounds to enjoy an outdoor movie.
Presented by Community Living Windsor, this family-friendly event invited movie-lovers to bring their own blankets to enjoy a drive-in type atmosphere without all the fumes.
“It’s a beautiful location, it’s for a good cause, so it’s a good night,” says Marco Rose, commenting on the event’s price of admission – a single canned good, which will be donated to The Downtown Mission.
“It’s something nice on a Friday night, to do with your family,” Rose continues. “There’s not a lot of family stuff in this city, and if there is it’s expensive.”
“There are even a lot of people here without kids,” adds Annie Gambriel, another event attendee.
Mariani Events, the largest outdoor movie production company in Windsor-Essex, provided the large inflatable movie screen, which was set to begin a screening of the 2016 animated feature film Zootopia at 8:45.
