Sunrise Bakery is opening a new retail location in Downtown Windsor on Monday.
Located at 30 University Avenue East, the bakery will feature fresh breads, dinner rolls, pies, pastries, cakes, desserts and biscuits. Downtown Windsor BIA officials say you can sit in and enjoy fresh coffee or cappuccino and savour cakes or desserts. For patrons on the go, Sunrise offers Cake-In-A-Cup — individual samples of their delectable creations.
Owner Ali Bazzi credits the demand for a downtown bakery and the Downtown Windsor BIA’s commercial rent subsidy program as incentives to open shop in the city centre.
The Downtown Windsor BIA’s commercial rent subsidy program utilizes rent subsidy to encourage up to retailers to fill previously unoccupied buildings with new commercial ventures. The goal of the program is to stimulate and enhance economic development and introduce new diversified services within the DWBIA’s boundaries, and the DWBIA subsidizes up to 50% of the successful applicant’s rent each month for the period of one year up to a maximum of $625 per month.
Hours of operation are from 7am to 6pm Monday to Thursday; from 7am to 9pm on Friday and Saturday; and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
