The Lasalle Vipers will donate teddy bears collected at recent home games to needy children just in time for Christmas celebrations.
On Wednesday night New Song Church on Drouillard Road is having a special Christmas dinner for area residents where the teddy bears will be distributed to the younger children by Vipers players.
The bears were collected at two Vipers games in November on behalf of sponsor, Collins Barrow. Fans received a free Chuck a Puck from the Vipers and Collins Barrow in exchange for a bear donation.
“We really wanted to do something during this time of year to connect with the local community, with area children who may not receive many gifts, and to let the Vipers players take part in an event that shows their dedication to community service,” says Gail Robertson, Vipers spokesperson.
“The event at New Song Church may not be as well-known, but this dedicated group of people ensure their local community is looked after.”
