Official construction of the Windsor-Essex Parkway is scheduled to begin on August 20, 2011, pending completion of the Design and Construction Report #1 public review.
The very first project to be under taken will be the demolition and replacement of the North Talbot Road Bridge to accommodate widening of Highway 401 from four to six lanes.
Starting at 3:00 am Saturday morning and continuing for a 50 hour period, Highway 401 eastbound between Highway 3 and Provincial Road, and Highway 401 westbound between Manning Road and Highway 3, will be closed for bridge demolition. The roads are expected to re-open on Monday at 5:00 am.
There will be a long-term detour in place on North Tablot for an estimated nine months, as the new bridge is constructed. A detour route for North Talbot Road
traffic, which follows Howard Avenue, Highway 3, and Walker Road, will be used as the primary detour route during the temporary closure. A route via Concession Road, Provincial Road, and Walker Road will also remain available throughout the closure.
