Mike Havey Named Director Of Athletics At UWindsor

The University of Windsor has named Mike Havey the new Director of Athletics & Recreational Services.

Havey currently serves as the acting Director, a position he has held since June 2013. He has been a member of the University and Department of Athletics for the past 23 years.

Hired as the head coach of the Lancer men’s basketball team in 1991, Havey spent 13 years at the helm of the program before retiring from coaching in 2004. He was appointed as Associate Athletic Director later that same year.

“I am honoured to be named as the Director of Athletics & Recreational Services for the University of Windsor. To have been selected to lead our team of athletes, coaches and staff in the coming years is a truly exciting opportunity,” said Havey. “There are both challenging and exciting times ahead for Athletics & Recreational Services. To be the unit leader as we attempt to action a major capital building project is an exciting and challenging prospect and represents the realization of a long-held dream.”

The appointment is effective immediately.
