This past September, the City of Windsor was contacted by GMR Marketing who represents Lowe’s Home improvements informing them that the Forest Glade Arena has been selected as one of two rinks to receive a $50,000 donation as part of the Rink Reno Program Grant.
The Rink Reno Program was created with just one goal: to rebuild the infrastructure of minor hockey, one rink at a time.
The grant will be used accelerate needed upgrades to the arena’s which include painting, replacement of tile and plumbing fixtures in the dressing room showers, replacement of rubberized flooring, and improvements to landscaping.
At a yet to be determined date, the renovation will take place over a weekend with Lowe’s stores employees taking part along with community partners. Both City of Windsor employee unions have pledged support for the project. The city will also match the funding.
When renovations are complete, a community unveiling will take place to celebrate the work accomplished.
