Rain Poncho Bandit Robs West End Esso

Windsor Police Service are investigating after a west side Esso gas station located at 2625 Tecumseh Road West was robbed early this morning just before 3am.
Police report that the 22-year-old male clerk told them had been working the midnight shift in the store and had stepped outside to have a cigarette. As he was standing near the door, he watched as a man wearing a yellow “rain poncho” ran toward him through the parking lot. When the man got to the clerk he told him that he was “being robbed” and told the employee to give him all the money from the cash register.
The clerk entered the store and retrieved a sum of money from the till while the suspect remained at the door. The clerk then handed the money to the suspect and watched as the suspect ran away southbound toward Betts Avenue.
The clerk was not injured during the robbery. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40 years of age. He was wearing a yellow “rain poncho” with a yellow plastic bag covering his head and part of his face. He was also wearing a black long sleeve shirt under the poncho, light faded blue jeans and black shoes.
