Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 51 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday.
New & Total Cases
The Health Unit says 17 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 19 cases are community acquired, 1 case is outbreak related, 1 case is travel related, and the acquisition sources of 13 cases are still under investigation.
Total overall cases increased from 22,249 on Monday December 6th to 22,300 on Tuesday December 7th.
There are 504 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 14 since yesterday).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex):
- 337,495 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+400 since yesterday)
- 18,711 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (+208 since yesterday)
- 318,784 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+192 since yesterday)
- 37,203 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+2,446 since yesterday)
- A total of 693,482 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+3,038 since yesterday)
Vaccination Percentages
- 77.0 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 81.8 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 72.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 77.3 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 8.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (increase of 0.6 per cent since yesterday)
Note: The Health Unit says 438,001 people are living in Windsor and Essex County presently.

Resolved Cases
The Health Unit lists 21,319 total resolved cases.
That’s an increase of 61 resolved cases since yesterday.
Deaths
The Health Unit announced four additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 477. They say a man in his 40s from the community, a man in his 50s from the community, a man in his 70s from the community, and a woman in her 70s from the community passed away.
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit lists 34 hospitalizations today: 20 people in acute care (increase of 6), and 14 people in the ICU (increase of 5) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
