The Greater Essex County District School Board is reporting COVID-19 cases at five more public schools in Windsor-Essex from the last two days.
The board is reporting:
- one additional case in a staff member at F.W. Begley Public School on December 2nd
- one case in a student at Centennial Central Public School on December 3rd
- one additional case in a student at Gosfield North Public School on December 2nd
- one additional case in a staff member at Margaret D. Bennie Public School on December 2nd
- two cases in students at West Gate Public School on December 2nd
Note: With the public board there is sometimes a delay of several days between the confirmation of a case and the public reporting of that case.
Greater Essex County District School Board public relations officer Scott Scantlebury has said the board does not release information about the number of cohorts or students affected by the case.
The board sent letters to the Begley school community, the Centennial Central school community, the Gosfield North school community, the Margaret D. Bennie school community, and the West Gate school community.
“We have been working with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) by providing lists of students and staff who may have been in contact with the individual,” the letters state. “If you have not been contacted, you or your child (ren) have not been identified as close contacts. The WECHU is contacting any individuals (students and staff) who have an identified high-risk exposure with the confirmed case and will give directions to follow.
The board has reported 228 cases to date.
