Windsor firefighters battled a house fire in downtown Windsor Friday evening.

Crews were called to the 500 block of Janette Avenue around 10:30pm for reports of a house on fire.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the home and worked quickly to ensure everyone was out of the building.

Shortly before 11pm, fire crews switched tactics to fight the blaze from the exterior only. Firefighters used an aerial platform to battle the fire.

It was brought under control around midnight.

Windsor Fire says the fire is considered suspicious at this time.

The Ontario Fire Marshal is attending Sunday.

Damage is set at 350,000.

It’s unclear at this time whether this fire is linked to a series of suspicious fires police are investigating in the same neighbourhood.
