Outdoor skating is opening in Windsor.
The outdoor Lanspeary Lions Rink will open by Wednesday evening, February 17th, and the Charles Clark Square rink by Monday, February 22, 2021, weather permitting.
The City is taking additional precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by allowing for a maximum of only 10 skaters per session.
In keeping with current provincial regulatory requirements, free public skating will be available by advance reservation only at ACTIVEWindsor.ca.
COVID-19 protocol will be in place, and participants are asked to arrive for their reserved time no more than 10 minutes early. Participants will be required to physically distance and to wear a mask or face covering while at the rinks, including while on the ice. City of Windsor staff will be on site to check skaters in, provide pre-screening and admit them to the ice. Washrooms are available, but no additional facilities are open at this time.
Reserved sessions will be one hour in length with 30 minutes in between sessions for staff to groom the ice surface and provide enhanced cleaning prior to the start of the next session.
The schedule at each rink, Monday to Friday, will include skating sessions starting at 4:00pm with last session starting at 8:30 pm, and weekends will have the first session starting at 8:00 am and last session starting at 8:30 pm.
The schedule and conclusion of the season are all dependent on outdoor temperatures and any potential changes to pandemic regulations.
