Leamington has announced the cancellation of municipal events through to July 31st, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision to cancel events is in response to the provincial emergency order prohibiting organized public events and social gatherings of more than five people, and supports Public Health direction that physical distancing is critical to slowing the spread of COVID-19.
Cancellations include the following municipally run events:
- Mill Street Markets – June and July
- Canada Day Celebration and Fireworks at Seacliff Park – July 1st
- Summer Concert Series at the Sunset Stadium – July
- Sunday Serenades at Rick Atkin Park – July
- Windsor Symphony Orchestra Concert at the Sunset Stadium – July 25th
- Music at the Marina – June and July
“While we are disappointed to have to cancel some of our summer events, the health and well-being of our residents and staff is our top priority,” said Mayor Hilda MacDonald. “It’s important that we take these precautionary measures now to slow the spread of COVID-19 in hopes that things will get back to normal sooner.”
