One Additional Death, 8 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex As Of Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has confirmed 8 additional cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday morning, bringing the local total to 594. They said 186 people locally have recovered.

Cases increased from 586 on Wednesday April 29th to 594 on Thursday April 30th.

The Health Unit announced one additional local death due to COVID-19 as of Thursday bringing the local death toll to 50. Dr. Wajid Ahmed says a female in her 90’s passed away in a local long-term care facility.

Of the 50 total, local deaths, the Health Unit says 36 of the deaths have been residents of long-term care and retirement homes.

The Health Unit says Extendicare Southwood Lakes, Franklin Gardens, Sun Parlour Home, Heron Terrace, Lifetimes on Riverside, AMICA at Windsor, and Country Village Homes remain under outbreak.

As of Thursday morning 6,437 tests have been conducted and 709 tests are still pending.
