The Windsor Endowment for the Arts (WEA) and the City of Windsor partnered to once again deliver The WEAs, and the Windsor Mayor’s Arts Awards (WMAA) Celebration. This year’s event, taking place the evening Friday the 20th, was outdoors taking place next to Art Windsor Essex in the Vision Corridor.
At the celebration, WEA gave five Art Leadership Awards to the following local art leaders: Dr. Clara Howitt, Sarah Jarvis, Phog Lounge, Michael K. Potter, and Carl Lavoy. Additionally, Mayor Drew Drilkens awarded the 2022 Windsor Mayor’s Arts Awards to recipients present at the event: Kaitlyn Karns (Artist), Waawiiyaatanong Feminist Theatre (Arts Organization), and Pam Rodzik (Volunteer with AWE).
As well as the mentioned awards, 11 art grants totaling $29,000 was awarded to regional artists and arts organizations at the event. This includes a new $3,000 Emerging Artist in Film Arts Grant to a local filmmaker.
