The Amherstburg Farmers Market kicks off another exciting season this Saturday.
Celebrating its 12th year of serving the residents of Amherstburg and the greater Essex County, the Amherstburg Farmers Market returns to GL Heritage Brewing Company, located at 8728 Howard Avenue.
The 2022 Season is the 3rd season at the agricultural-based, small-batch, and local family-run brewery. The deliberate focus on local collaboration and high-quality artisan offerings from GL Heritage has made for a growing partnership for the small town, community-based market. Since relocating from the former market location known as the landmark “Little White Church” in 2020, sales volumes have tripled, and the roster of diverse and eager vendors has grown to well over 60 full-time and part time participants.
The market will be held every Saturday (rain or shine) from 8:30am until 1:30pm. Each week will showcase 40+ high-quality vendors featuring produce and crafted products from Essex County. You will have access to fresh seasonal vegetables, fruit, herbs and fresh-cut flowers; home-made pies, scones, cookies and breads; prepared meals; craft beer and wines; fresh-roasted coffee; spices, jams and preserves; pet treats; natural-made products such as soaps, candles, pottery, jewelry, sewn goods, woodwork and artwork.
Every week the market also offers a sit-down or “to go” breakfast from a local food vendor, starting at 8:30am. The Hub, Operated by Samantha Buhler, will be serving breakfast for AFM’s opening day. The brewery will open at 9am with cold beer ready to be picked up or enjoyed inside or on the covered and open patio. Live, local music will be performed from 10am-1pm each week, with Gregg Steiner in the starting lineup this weekend. GL Heritage Brewery is always pet-friendly and family-friendly.
Applications for market vendors and local charities are still being accepted. Creative and imaginative vendors with expertise in their craft, whether growing things or making things locally, are encouraged to apply.
