On Saturday, the Town of Essex and Essex Fire and Rescue Services officially opened the new Essex Fire Station 2.

Located at 3575 North Malden Road, the facility is 8,500 square feet with three bays to accommodate up to five fire trucks. The building also includes a large training room that can accommodate up to 70 firefighters at a time, allowing all three stations to train in the same facility.

This new building was part of the master plan for the long-term protection of the community. This facility is vital due to the area’s growing residential and industrial growth. It will also act as the reception centre if Fermi 2 has an issue as Essex is designated as a Host Community by the Provincial Government.

“This is an important addition to the community and will be integral to the safety and security of our residents,” said Rick Arnel, Fire Chief. “The location of our newest fire station will enhance the service provided to our residents as it is more central to established residential service areas.”
