Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Friday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 98 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Friday.
New & Total Cases
The Health Unit says 34 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 19 cases are community acquired, 2 cases are travel related, and the acquisition sources of 43 cases are still under investigation.
Total overall cases increased from 22,489 on Thursday December 9th to 22,587 on Friday December 10th.
There are 572 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 13 since yesterday).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex):
- 338,830 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+423 since yesterday)
- 19,448 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (+237 since yesterday)
- 319,382 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+186 since yesterday)
- 44,197 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+2,539 since yesterday)
- A total of 702,409 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+3,148 since yesterday)
Vaccination Percentages
- 77.3 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 82.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 72.9 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 77.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 10.0 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (increase of 0.5 per cent since yesterday)
Note: The Health Unit says 438,001 people are living in Windsor and Essex County presently.

The Health Unit lists 21,536 total resolved cases.
That’s an increase of 84 resolved cases since yesterday.
Deaths
The Health Unit announced one additional death from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 479. They say a man in his 50s from the community passed away.
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit lists 30 hospitalizations today: 18 people in acute care (decrease of 1), and 12 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
