Thursday morning, the Windsor-Essex community is invited to come together and honour the men and women of the Canadian Military, past and present.
Each November 11th, Canadians pay tribute to the sacrifices of those who have served their country in the military in times of war and peace.
Downtown Windsor:
The annual Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Cenotaph in City Hall Square starts at 11am. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 10:45am. Spectators are welcome to attend in person and are asked to protect vulnerable guests, including local veterans, by respecting best practices for social distancing and wearing masks where distancing is not possible. The service will be broadcast live at www.facebook.com/CityofWindsor. YourTV will also rebroadcast the ceremony at 2 pm and 7:30 pm
University of Windsor:
The University of Windsor campus community is invited to a special Remembrance Day ceremony. The program will begin at 10:50am, outside the front entrance to Memorial Hall and will feature readings and music.
Riverside:
A service will take place at the cenotaph in Miracle Park at 1pm.
Essex:
A service at the cenotaph at 11am.
Amherstburg:
The parade will assemble at Branch 157 at 10:30 am and proceed to the Cenotaph in the King’s Navy Yard for a brief memorial service. Upon conclusion and dismissal of the parade, you are welcome at Branch 157 for refreshment and comradery.
Comber:
Parade and ceremony at the Comber Veterans Memorial Garden on Main Street Comber Legion, Branch 241 at 10:45am.
LaSalle:
Takes place at the LaSalle Cenotaph Park starting at 11am.
Leamington:
The annual Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at the Leamington Cenotaph on November 11 at 10:50am. All wreaths will be laid prior to the service. Anyone who wishes to lay their own wreath or place a poppy, may do so after the service is dismissed. Those attending the ceremony must follow physical distancing guidelines, and must wear a mask at all times.
Kingsville:
Service at the Cenotaph at 11am. As the service is outdoors, it is open to the public. Please note, the Legion will not host any activities indoors following the service this year.
Belle River:
Cenotaph on Belle River Road between Ouellette Street and St. Peter Street at 10:45am.
