Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update From The Weekend

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 118 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County from over the weekend. The Health Unit does not report case counts and statistics on weekends but provides a weekend summary.
New & Total Cases
Of the 118 new cases: 38 cases were reported on November 20th, 58 cases were reported on November 21st and 22 cases were reported on November 22nd.
The Health Unit says 58 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 27 cases are community acquired, 5 cases are outbreak related, 3 cases are travel related, and the acquisition sources of 25 cases are still under investigation.
Total overall cases increased from 21,154 on Friday November 19th to 21,272 on Monday November 22nd.
They say 346 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 4 since Friday).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex):
- 328,766 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+489 since Friday)
- 13,391 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (-366 since Friday)
- 315,375 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+855 since Friday)
- 14,080 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+2,362 since Friday)
- A total of 658,221 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+3,706 since Friday)
Vaccination Percentages
- 75.0 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since Friday)
- 86.6 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 12+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since Friday)
- 72.0 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.2 per cent since Friday)
- 83.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 12+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.2 per cent since Friday)
- 3.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (increase of 0.6 per cent since Friday)
Note: The Health Unit says 438,001 people are living in Windsor and Essex County presently.

The Health Unit lists 20,458 total resolved cases.
That’s an increase of 122 resolved cases since Friday.
Deaths
There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 and the local death toll stands at 468.
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit lists 17 hospitalizations today: 11 people in acute care (decrease of 5), and 6 people in the ICU (increase of 1) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
