COVID-19 Cases Reported At Eleven More Windsor Essex Public Schools

The Greater Essex County District School Board is reporting COVID-19 cases at eleven more public schools in Windsor-Essex from late last week and over the weekend.
The board is reporting:
- one case in a student at Amherstburg Public School on November 28th
- one case in a staff member at Begley Public School on November 28th
- one case in a student at Belle River District High School on November 28th
- one additional case in a student at Belle River Public School on November 27th
- one case in a student at Eastwood Public School on November 26th
- one case in a staff member at the Greater Essex County District School Board’s Virtual Elementary School on November 27th
- one additional case in a student at Herman Academy – Elementary on November 27th
- one case in a student at Herman Academy – Secondary on November 28th
- one additional case in a student at Leamington District Secondary School on November 29th
- one additional case in a student at Malden Central Public School on November 28th
- one additional case in a student at Walkerville Collegiate Institute on November 29th
Note: With the public board there is sometimes a delay of several days between the confirmation of a case and the public reporting of that case.
Greater Essex County District School Board public relations officer Scott Scantlebury has said the board does not release information about the number of cohorts or students affected by the case.
The board sent letters to the Amherstburg Public school community, the Begley school community, the Belle River District school community, the Belle River Public school community, the Eastwood school community, the Herman Academy – Elementary school community, the Herman Academy – Secondary school community, the Leamington District Secondary school community, the Malden Central school community, and the Walkerville Collegiate school community.
“We have been working with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) by providing lists of students and staff who may have been in contact with the individual,” the letters state. “If you have not been contacted, you or your child (ren) have not been identified as close contacts. The WECHU is contacting any individuals (students and staff) who have an identified high-risk exposure with the confirmed case and will give directions to follow.
The board has reported 204 cases to date.
