Richard Wyma is the new Director of Community and Development Services in Kingsville.
Wyma is a long-time Essex County resident who holds a degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Waterloo, a Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph, and a diploma in International Design from Wageningen University. Previously, Richard worked in Essex County for the Conservation Authority.
“I became a Planner to better understand, plan and develop the communities I lived in and a Landscape Architect to better integrate design and creativity into our rural and urban landscapes,” said Wyma. “Kingsville already has many of the attributes that make it a place people want to live, invest and play in. I am interested in better understanding how we can build on that attachment people have to Kingsville to make it a healthier, more resilient, and more sustainable place.”
Wyma will provide leadership to a department that includes Planning/Development, Building and Bylaw Enforcement, Municipal Facilities and Property, and Recreation and Special Events.
“We are excited to have Richard join our Senior Management Team and assist us with highly critical areas of responsibility,” said Kingsville’s Chief Administrative Officer, John Norton. “He is a key addition to the team we are building to focus on the priorities set out by Mayor and Council.”
“The opportunity to renew and champion the Town’s vision and guide its implementation is exciting to me, both personally and professionally,” said Wyma. “I am looking forward to working closely with the Chief Administrative Officer, Council, the rest of the Senior Management Team in moving important objectives forward.”
Wyma first day with the Town will be Tuesday, July 13th, 2021.
