The Town of Lakeshore has received more grant funding.
The town will be receiving $237,500 of grant funding towards the stormwater management master plan project. This project will complete a comprehensive review of current municipal storm sewer infrastructure, including the assessment of the potential risks resulting from climate change. This review will provide options for both short and long term solutions to mitigate the potential effects of climate change that may impact the Town’s storm water infrastructure.
The Lighthouse Cove secondary plan project will also be receiving grant funding of $42,500 to undertake a natural hazard study. The objective for this project is to develop alternatives to provide safe ingress and egress for the community of Lighthouse Cove during flood and ice jam events. The study will suggest mitigation methods and emergency response recommendations that could be included in a community emergency management and response plan.
The County Wide Active Transportation System Municipal Partnership Program has awarded Lakeshore $20,000 for enhancements of the Earth Walk Trail at the Atlas Tube Centre. The enhancements includes trees, benches and a Carolinian Garden feature which will be revealed during the Earth Day Easter Egg event scheduled April 20th beginning at 10am at the Atlas Tube Centre.
