The second of two phases of the Spay/Neuter Voucher Program in the City of Windsor is set to go next week.
Phase one released of 400 vouchers on March 9th, 2016, and Phase two will release 300 vouchers on May 4th, 2016.
A maximum of two vouchers per household will be issued where the cats are owned and a family income threshold is met, and a maximum of four feral vouchers per household will be issued with no family income threshold requirements.
This $50,000 program was approved by City Council in the 2016 Operating Budget. In an effort to reduce the number of homeless cats and number of cats euthanized in the city, a total of 700 vouchers will be made available to sterilize cats.
Vouchers are redeemable at participating veterinary clinics. Voucher recipients must call in advance to book appointments for spay/neuter services.
Vouchers will again be issued through the City’s 311 call-in service. Residents who meet the eligibility criteria will receive their vouchers in the mail.
More details can be found at www.citywindsor.ca on the Spay/Neuter Voucher Program for Cats web page or by calling 311.
