Lancers Fall To McMaster Marauders

The Windsor Lancers fell to the McMaster Marauders 44-19 Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. With this loss, Windsor falls 1-5 for the season.
Rookie quarterback Liam Putt led the blue & gold offensively with 165 passing yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions, to go along with 65 yards rushing. Kicker Anthony Malandruccolo finished the game with 276 punting yards and a 37 yard field goal, while Dave McDuffie had 71 kick return yards.
Defensively, Tarik Bonas had 9.5 total tackles, while Matt Gayer finished the game with 7 to bring his season total to 40.5.
Windsor got on the board first with Malandruccolo’s 37-yard field goal, but the Lancer lead did not last long as McMaster’s Wayne Moore found the end zone three minutes later on a one-yard run to take a 7-3 lead.
Down 28-3 late in the second quarter, Tarrence Crawford finished a Lancer drive running 2 yards into the end zone to cut the McMaster lead to eighteen. McMaster would score again before the quarter was out to take a 35-10 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, Nate O’Halloran caught a 21-yard pass from Putt for Windsor’s other score, while the Marauders conceded a safety in the third to complete the Lancer scoring.
The Lancers are off next weekend, and return to action on Saturday, October 17th when they travel to Guelph to take on the Guelph Gryphons.
