M.R. Meat Market opened their third location in South Windsor Wednesday, with business booming and patrons parading up and down the aisles.
“There was a need in South Windsor for us and we wanted to facilitate that need, giving people other options, other than the chain stores,” said Marc Romualdi, president of M.R. Meat Market. “It is always a challenge to open up a new location, because we have to adapt to the markets and there’s always pressure to open up as soon as possible and it did happen fast.”
The construction lasted just six months at the Walker Road location, in front of Value Village. Romualdi said the family owned business employs 80 people over their three stores.
Joseph’s Farm Market is also opening another location attached to the new M.R. Meats store, however it will not be open until Saturday. Romualdi said while the two are often seen together, they are two separate entities.
“We are not partnered with Joseph’s, we have a great synergy together but we’re totally separate entities,” said Romualdi. “I have no intentions of getting into the produce business and they have no intentions of getting into the meat business so we just stick to what we’re good at. We kind of piggy back off of each other, we always seem to go together like peanut butter and jam.”
The next step for Romualdi is to continue to expand the operation and open a number of other locations across Ontario.
Currently however, the focus is here in Windsor where stores are open Monday and Tuesday from 9am to 7pm, Wednesday from 8am to 7pm, Thursday and Friday from 8am to 8pm, Saturday from 8am to 7pm and on Sunday from 9am to 6pm.
