An early morning fire at a neighbourhood food market was intentionally set, investigators say.
Windsor Firefighters were called to Bazzi Produce located on Wyandotte Street East near Marion just before 3am.
Upon arrival they found that a fire had been started on the exterior of the building and wood pallets were burning. It was brought under control quickly, but the blaze had spread into the attic of the building. Firefighters had the fire out some time later.
This fire is just one in a string of fires in that section of Wyandotte Street East. On December 16th, 2014, a fire at the May Court Bargain Box and the May Court Resale Shop in the same block was ruled as arson.
Last May a couch was set on fire behind the St. Vincent de Paul store, located right next to last night’s fire.
Investigators say last night’s blaze caused $100,000 in damage to the business.
