Extreme Cold Weather Warning Issued

Extremely cold temperatures are headed for Windsor-Essex prompting alerts from both the Health Unit and Environment Canada.
The Health Unit has issued an Extreme Cold Weather Alert for Windsor-Essex County that will be in effect until Friday, February 13th.
Based on the forecast, temperatures are predicted to dip to -22°C (-8°F) overnight with a wind chill of -30°C (-22°F) Thursday into Friday afternoon.
The Health Unit warns about the dangers of hypothermia — when the body loses heat faster than it is produced, and frostbite.
Meanwhile Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Weather Warning for Windsor and Essex County.
They say the weather we’re expecting will be caused by a strong cold front. Wind chill values this afternoon are generally expected to be between minus 20 and minus 30 across most of southern Ontario.
Tonight will be very cold across all of southern Ontario. Although the winds will diminish somewhat, wind chills of minus 30 to minus 35 are expected overnight and into Friday morning.
