Now in its sixth year, Phog Phest is back with three venues, five stages and over forty bands and artists for a 16 hour day of non-stop music.
This year‘s headliner is 2014 Juno nominated Breakout Group of the Year, Born Ruffians. The indie rock band hail from Midland, Ontario and have toured worldwide with Franz Ferdinand, Tokyo Police Club and Peter Bjorn and John. With three albums under their belt, their 2013 Birthmarks continues to create a buzz amongst the Canadian music set with their latest fan favourite Needle trending on YouTube.
Organizer of the annual music festival and Phog Lounge owner Tom Lucier, said “We tried booking these guys for three years. This is a gift to ourselves and to all of our music-loving community.”
The inaugural Phog Phest was a result of the bar winning by voters choice CBC Radio 3s Best Live Music Venue in 2009.
Lucier says this year’s incredible lineup will not disappoint. “There’s a lot of new names on this local-heavy line-up, but they’ve managed to surface and command respect within a relatively short period of time. A lot of people will be surprised that these acts they’ve never heard of are from Windsor and that they’re THIS good. Mix that with the tried-and-true veterans playing the festival and the record-setting sponsor support from Long & McQuade and Blackburn Radio, and it’s easily the best event we’ve ever hosted.”
Phog Phest 6 features local favourites and area up and comers – indie rock, experimental, folk, DJ, high energy dance and more. Many who have graced the humble Phog stage and packed the house.
New this year is the first Bicycle Scavenger Hunt where individuals or teams can race to fulfill a list, ultimately leading them to a free valet service at Phog Phest upon completion and the chance to win a new Detroit Bike, sponsored by City Cyclery, Detroit Bikes, Bike Friendly Windsor and Phog Lounge.
The bike valet next to Artcite will be available to all Phog Phest ticket holders.
“This is our one big thing each year. It’s the best initiation into the live music scene for students and newcomers to the scene. The sound is excellent, the vibe is safe and welcoming, and the brilliant talent is made up of some of the best people living in this city today.”
Catch it in any or all of the locations this year, Artcite Contemporary Gallery, Capitol Theatre as main stage and Phog Lounge. Show goers will be able to traverse between each unique space all day with the cost of a ticket.
Phog Phest takes place September 13th.
