The large Jesus statue on the steps of the former Our Lady of the Rosary church on Riverside Drive will be removed and relocated in the coming weeks.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of London confirmed today that the iconic bronze statue will be relocated to Our Lady of the Lake cemetery at the corner of Drouillard Road and Seminole.
The church was sold for a dollar last December to developer Larry Horwitz who is developing the building into an event venue called Water’s Edge.
Water’s Edge Event Centre will become an event venue with a focus on elegant weddings, corporate gatherings, social events, non-profit galas, bridal receptions, wine tastings, business dinners, charity balls, holiday parties, reunions and more.
The Diocese says a site near the Drouillard Road entrance of the cemetery is being prepared for the installation of the statue. The statue will be installed there in the next few months, and a formal re-dedication of the statue is planned.
