The location where garbage is picked up for several homes in the Walkerville area could be changing.

City administration is asking City Council to approve moving pick up from the alleys to curbside for those who live in the 1200 block of Kildare (east side), the 1200 block of Devonshire (west side), and the 1000 block of Shepherd (southside).

The city says that the area behind the 18 homes on Kildare and Devonshire is a U shaped alley and it makes it hard for the trucks to maneuver it. The truck must make a 10 point turn and it comes dangerously close to fences and garages.

For the four homes in the 1000 block of Shepard, in order for the truck to get into the alley it much travel on to a private driveway, and the city says there is a risk of liability should the truck damage the driveway.

The proposed changes would happen starting the week of September 8th. Recycling and yard waste collection for all these homes already takes place curb side.
