Huron Church Line at Highway 3 is now open to traffic after being closed for more than a year.
The intersection closed on March 26th, 2013, and HG Parkway officials had planned the closure to only last around four months. The closure was necessary for crews to build a siphon for the Lennon Drain.
The new road connects to Highway 3 as a road on top of the future Highway 401’s Villa Borghese Tunnel. It meets Highway 3 at a new stop light.
The tunnel top will provide a “community connection over Highway 401, incorporating the municipal roadway and multi-use pathway,” according to the Parkway’s website.
Landscaping features will include grasslands, shrubbery, earth berms, an urban rest area and a pedestrian bridge running along the southern section.
