In its continued effort to enhance forest coverage in the Essex Region, the Essex Region Conservation Authority is looking for volunteers to help plant 150 potted trees in Cedar Creek Provincial Park on Saturday, May 10th from 10am to 1pm.
Entrance to the planting area is located on 3rd Concession, approximately ½ km west of County Road 23/Arner Townline and approximately 7 kms east of Harrow.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear boots and long pants, and to dress for the weather.
“Planting native trees and vegetation in the farm field area will add to the natural habitat areas of the park,” explained Caroline Biribauer, ERCA’s Outreach Coordinator. “High school students can earn community service hours by taking part in this event.” Shovels and gloves will be provided to all volunteers, and a light barbecue will follow the planting.
Interested volunteers should please RSVP to: Caroline at [email protected] or 519-776-5209, ext. 245.
