Windsor Fire and Rescue is once again reminding home owners to call before you dig after a gas line was ruptured this afternoon.

Fire officials say that post holes were being dug for a fence in the 1900 block of Ypres when the natural gas line was struck.

Two homes had to be evacuated, and several fire units were on scene until Union Gas arrived and shut down the gas.

Officials stress that you need to call Ontario One Call for locates before you dig at 1-800-400-2255.  They add that it’s a free service.
