Enactus Windsor, a student-run organization at the Odette School of Business, will hold a collaborative e-waste collection event in conjunction with CAW Local 200’s Computers for Kids program at The Real Canadian Superstore located at 2430 Dougall Avenue this Saturday.
Computers for Kids recycles unwanted computers, keyboards, televisions, telephones and other electronic equipment into educational tools for community youth in need. Donated computers will have their software fully removed in order to protect donor privacy.
Event organizer Thuy Doan is encouraging everyone to donate their old or unused electronics. The drop-off events provide an environmentally friendly way to dispose of your old electronics while helping to provide educational tools for local children in need of these valuable resources.
“With the beginning of a new school year just around the corner, it is important for the community to come together and support events such as this one,” says Doan. “The donated electronics will either be recycled in an environmentally friendly way, or refurbished and given to children in Windsor-Essex that are in need of them. Both Computers for Kids and Enactus Windsor are working together to ensure that no child falls behind in school because they do not have access to the appropriate resources.”
Th event runs from 9am to 3pm.
