This coming Tuesday, Windsor City Council will look at amending a city by-law that only permits each household to own two dogs.
The Windsor-Essex Humane Society says that “We have had to turn down good adoptive homes for dogs from the Humane Society because people already had 2 dogs and we couldn’t legally adopt them a third. We frequently hear from people who would love to add a third dog to their home but worry that a neighbour might complain and they would have to give the dog up.”
Several neighboring communities such as LaSalle, Essex and Tecumseh already allow their residents to have three dogs.
The Public Safety Standing Committee has already considered these measures, and is recommending them to Council for their approval on Tuesday.
