Officials from the Windsor Police Arson Unit, the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office and Windsor Fire & Rescue Services are preparing to investigate the cause of the blaze. Heavy machinery will be brought in to move pieces of the twisted remains of the building. Fire investigators have no suspected cause for the blaze at this time.
The investigation is expected to be long and complicated due to the nature of the collapse of the building and should take several days.

Neighbouring businesses to the Dollarama are largely physically intact with an adjacent Dentist’s office primarily suffering smoke damage inside and fire damage to the front and roof. A fire wall prevented much of the fire from spreading. Damage to neighbouring businesses is still extensive and will amount in the millions of dollars.
