As per usual, Friday night was a busy one for music in Windsor. I chose to concentrate y efforts between Milk Coffee Bar (68 University Ave. W.) and Villains Beastro (256 Pelisier St.).
At Milk we had two touring bands playing with two locals, and luckily everyone recognized that the venue was a small one, and didn’t blow heads off with half-stacks. Katlina and The Gracious out of London are in the middle of a tour, bringing their rich and touching music to the masses. Joining them are the Toronto-based group, Paint. An eighties inspired sound with a modern edge, if The Smiths had the opportunity to make an album with Ludo, it would come out sounding something like this.
Locals State of Us and Bleach rounded out the night, both bands translating their originals well into acoustic sets, and throwing in some covers as well. The hot little venue was full of music lovers all night, everyone enjoying what they heard.
Around the corner at Villains things were a bit heavier. This Machine Kills Robots and Raised by Weeds kicked off the night, with pop-punk favourites Shared Arms and hard rock supergroup Cellos finishing it off.
