The Major F.A. Tilston VC Armoury located at 4007 Sandwich Street is the location for the 7th annual Military Studies Conference coming up this February 3rd and 4th!
The Military Studies Conference, War and Memory is the result of collaboration among the University of Windsor Humanities Research Group, the Wilfrid Laurier University Centre for Military, Strategic and Disarmament Studies, the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment, and members of the Canadian Armed Forces in Windsor as part of their community outreach programs.
Intended for a general audience comprised of adults/young this conference is a community-centered educational initiative that will explore the military history of Canada and our area. Topics of presentations will include: “The War of 1812”, “Chatham and Recruiting for the Great War”, “Windsor Goes to War in 1939”, The RCN and Battle of the Atlantic”, “Tecumseh and the War of 1812” and “War Art”. Vendors (representing the two universities’ book stores) will be on hand with military-related books for sale.
Registration on Friday the 3rd from 5:15pm to 7pm with the Keynote Speaker at 7pm. Saturday registration is 8:30am to 9am with the opening remarks kicking off at 9am.
Conference cost – which includes lunch on Saturday – is $20 for adults and $10 for students with proper ID.
