Hosting a hockey tournament recently, one organization is now raising cash with hits of a different kind.

On Friday, February 11, the Hospice Of Windsor & Essex County hosts Hits For Hospice Valentine’s Bash. Taking place at Coboto Club, doors open at 8 p.m. and entertainment starts at 8:30 p.m.

Beginning last year, the concert series was conceived for bands wishing to help the organization.

“Hits For Hospice was born last year,” said Public Relations/Communications Coordinator, Kathy Vincent. “I coined the series ‘Hits For Hospice’ as there were a number of very talented musical groups wanting to do benefits for the Hospice. This way it’s an easily recognizable event for music lovers.”

Tickets are $40-per-couple and $25-per-person. Bands playing include headliners Greatest Hits Live, along with  special guests The Sellouts and The Formula. Known for accurately recreating big hits, GHL will  perform songs from their acclaimed tribute concerts and some of their new 80’s music show

“All of the fellas in each of the three bands have HUGE hearts,” said Vincent. “Not only do they all have full time jobs in the real world, they’ve made this event another full time job and a huge success.”

Long stem roses will be sold at the event for $5 with each containing a numbered tag: Three will win a genuine pearly necklace. Ticket stub draws will take place to win “instant romance” Valentine’s baskets as well. Pizza by the slice will be available and a percentage of all sales goes to the Hospice’s programs.

For those still on the fence, Vincent had these final words:

“It’s a fun but casual evening that appeals to people of all ages,” she said. “The musical entertainment provided covers all types of music. You will no doubt find yourself singing along to the hits and wanting to get up on the dance floor when you hear your favourite song!”
