Cirque du Soleil may be an international show, but the performance comes together with some seriously local help, according to Amanda Iera of Windsor’s Douglas Marketing Group.
Iera talked to us in an email interview about how the show goes on, and how it will work for its half-dozen performances right here at Windsor’s WFCU Centre, this week.
“We use the Arena staff for load-in, load-out, ushering, security, concourse, [and] we hire some people specifically for the wardrobe department,” Iera said. “We try to purchase some products locally (when possible),” as well, “The artists have 2-days off so some will travel within the city, visit, do activities.”
This is Cirque du Soleil’s first time ever in Windsor. Back in 2009, a smaller, Canadian performance troupe called Cirque Sublime Adamo performed at our arena.
Cirque du Soleil performs tonight through Sunday at the WFCU Centre.
