A high speed collision occurred Monday evening just before 8pm when a green Ford Mustang traveling northbound on Ojibway Parkway spun out of control and into the path of an oncoming silver Chrysler Intrepid. The Intrepid t-boned the Mustang, which then spun out into a ditch. The crash occurred directly in front of the Windsor Raceway.
There were three occupants involved in the collision. One patient had to be extricated by Windsor Fire & Rescue. One patient was rushed to hospital and the ambulance was given a police escort due to the severity of injuries.
The driver of the Mustang, a male, 18 years of age, may not have been wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, according to emergency workers at the scene. That patient was rushed to hospital and is currently in critical condition.
The driver of the Intrepid, a 52-year-old man, suffered only minor injuries.
Windsor Police shut down every intersection and roadway in the vicinity as they conducted a thorough investigation and collision reconstruction.
It appears that rain played a factor in the collision since it was drizzling at the time of the crash and had been raining earlier on in the day. Ojibway Parkway has a posted speed limit of 80km/h where the collision occurred.
Police are seeking people who witnessed the crash for additional information. Anyone who saw the crash is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS.
